When we purchased The Morosky Building at 2 Cliff Street three years ago we were excited for the opportunity to bring our day programs together, offering accessibility and ease of access to those we serve. We were also excited about the potential the building offered, especially when we saw the basement!

Back in the ’70s and early ’80s, when the building was a SEARS Department store, the basement housed appliances. Since then, the basement had been just that, a basement. When we moved in, we immediately drew up plans to transform the basement into a Wellness Center. We wanted to build a space for a variety of Wellness resources including yoga, Zumba, music, and art therapies, strength training, professional development, you get the idea. We envisioned installing bathrooms, showers, a washer and dryer, rooms to accommodate our Career Closet, meeting spaces, quiet areas reserved for relaxation, and a large open space available for recreation. We planned to utilize every inch of the basement for program services and agency activities.

With financial support from The Edward and Mary Lord Foundation, the basement of The Morosky Building is quickly transforming into the Wellness Center that we once dreamt about. Our contractors motivated Property team, and incredibly talented staff have been working day after day to bring our vision to life. Although we will have to wait for the pandemic to subside to safely utilize the space as it was designed, we hope to begin open the Wellness Center in early 2021. We look forward to at least having a large open area with updated ventilation and space to practice social distancing available to hold very small groups and meetings, provide quiet spaces for staff to reflect and work, and most importantly, invite our members. Stay tuned for updates!
